The Onion Puts a Camera Inside a Polling Booth on Facebook Live

Democracy at Its Finest?

Editor's Pick

Satirical news site The Onion captured democracy "live" on Facebook Live today by placing a camera inside a polling booth, revealing some strange behaviors among a colorful cast of voters.

Among them were a guy whose idea of an "informed" choice came down to calling his friend and finding out who he voted for; a man who had no idea he was supposed to be voting, and instead changed his clothes for a day at the beach; Southpaw, the White Sox mascot, who seemed the most careful of citizens as he carefully looked over his ballot -- before stuffing it into his mouth; a girl who looked about 12; a man determined not to help decide the future of his country -- but to charge his phone; a Russian-speaking dude who for some reason came supplied with multiple ballots and Jesus himself, who arrives with a frightening big bang.

Perhaps the funniest aspect of the faux live stunt was the comments themselves, which revealed that slmoe viewers have idea what The Onion is about.
