Interactive Site Encourages San Franciscans to Cherish Their Local Mountain

Published on Mar 27, 2015

Editor's Pick

San Franciscans love to hike on their local mountain, Mount Tamalpais, and now local parks group The Tamalpais Lands Collaborative (TLC) is encouraging them to leave a digital footprint too.

The TLC worked with Goodby Silverstein & Partners to create OurTam.org, an interactive 3-D re-creation of Mt. Tam that allows visitors to "travel" to their favorite spots on the mountain and leave their personal stories in the form of text, photos or videos. Visitors to the mountain can use their smartphone to pinpoint their location and upload messages and photos, or people can add them at home.

The site is part of "One Tam," a community campaign to raise awareness and build community support around efforts to care for the area's resources.
