Nikki Minaj Finds the Snapchat Ghost Cheating With Her Man in T-Mobile Ad

Is This the First Commercial Featuring an Anthropomorphized App?

Editor's Pick

Ghostface Chillah the Snapchat ghost steals this new T-Mobile commercial that also stars Nikki Minaj.

Ghostface doesn't say anything but makes all the classic emoji faces -- open-mouth smile, winky face with tongue out, cool-with-shades -- while sitting at a table in a restaurant with a guy named Steven. The idea is that Steven is two-timing Minaj with Snapchat, because his Verizon data plan won't let him stream the rap star's videos and play with the messaging app all day.

"You've been streaming my videos all morning, now you're with this thing?" Ms. Minaj -- who shows up unnannounced -- says in the spot, by Publicis Seattle, which is called "The Love Triangle."

Minaj then leaves with the floating Snapchat app logo, saying it's time they find someone with unlimited data. That's where T-Mobile fits in, because it recently updated its payment plans, which it claims are "truly unlimited."

This could be the first commercial featuring an anthropomorphized app.
