Toyota is combining social media with philanthropy with Cars for Good, by asking consumers to decide via Facebook which deserving non-profits should get a free car. It will award 100 cars to 100 nonprofit organizations, based on votes from the public, over 100 days.
The 100 day period began on May 9. Toyota is featuring five non profit organizations per day on its Facebook page until August 16. Each of the 500 organizations, selected by an independent panel of judges, have online profiles showing how they plan to use a new Toyota to do good in their local community. Voters may place one vote per day, and each day, the previous day's winner is announced.
