Errol Morris Captures Parental Hopes and Angst for Unilever's Sustainability Project

Agencies David and Ogilvy London Launch Project Sunlight with Big Emotional Film

Published on Nov 20, 2013

Editor's Pick

Consumer goods giant Unilever has launched Project Sunlight, a new initiative to motivate people to adopt more sustainable lifestyles, with this four-minute web film created by David Latin America and Ogilvy & Mather London and directed by Moxie Pictures' documentary vet Errol Morris (The Fog of War, Thin Blue Line, Standard Operating Procedure).

Launched today, on Universal Children's Day, it takes expectant parents from around the world, interviews them about their worries for their unborn child's future, and then shows them a film about how forthcoming generations might be better off then we are now -- with emotional results.

The short film is just the starting point of the effort. The Project Sunlight website will be a hub for stories and tips about sustainable development, some of it centered around some of Unilever's products (such as Flora margerine and Lifebuoy soap) as well as its corporate work towards sustainability projects. It provides school meals through the World Food Programme; supports Save the Children to provide clean water; and UNICEF to improve hygiene.
