The United Nations is promoting gay rights in India (where homosexuality is still illegal) with a Bollywood-style music video starring Bollywood actress and Miss India winner Celina Jaitly. The video, choreographed by Longie, who worked on Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire," was premiered at an event featuring UN officials, activists, Bollywood celebrities with Imran Khan and Celina Jaitly, and a special message from Ban Ki-moon.

It features some stock Bollywood characters, including the stern grandmother and cheeky child, but the twist to the arrival of a handsome young man is that he's accompanied by his boyfriend. The lyrics to the song make the point that everyone should be welcomed by their family, regardless of who they are or whom they love.

The law criminalising same-sex love in India, Section 377, was reinstated at the end of last year, following a ruling by the country's Supreme Court that sparked nationwide protests and an outpouring of support for the LGBT community. Activists have appealed for the decision to be reviewed.
