Campaign Encourages Kids to Become Science and Tech Workers Instead

LeBron James, Drew Brees, Adriana Lima and other celebrities star in Verizon's latest spot, debuting during the NCAA Men's Final Four Championship -- but for once, it's not about inspiring people to be like them.

Instead, they're making the point that, rather than aspiring to be the next LeBron or Adriana, they should be inspired to pursue careers in STEM subjects, to fill the four million U.S. jobs currently open in science and math.

The ad taglined #weneedmore and part of Verizon's ongoing Innovative Learning initiative, opens on footage of kids saying what they want to be when they grow up -- the options include basketball players, football players, actors and so forth. In another online film, the same kids are then shown a list of science and tech options (with salaries) and their eyes are opened to a new world of possibilities.

The campaign was created out of R/GA and directed by Anders Hallberg and Tom Malmros via B-Reel.
