Virgin Active Offers a Workout for All Your Dating Mishaps

Mischievous Ad by Iris Shows How the Gym Can Help in All Situations

Editor's Pick

This January, ads for gyms are certainly getting more interesting as they compete for a share of our New Year's resolutions. Equinox chose to go down the provocative route while this online ad from the U.K.'s Virgin Active is just mischievous (and a little naughty).

Taglined "There's a workout for that," it centers on the dating adventures of a red-haired girl, matching each workout to her various mishaps; for example, having to open a heavy door that her date lets swing shut in her face; climbing out of a bathroom window to escape from a terrible evening or having to carry a ridiculous giant teddy bear. Eventually, she meets the right guy while out running -- and there's a workout for that too.

Iris Worldwide created the spot, its first work for the brand since picking up the account last year after a competitive pitch, and it was directed by Rebel at Outsider. The campaign is supported by media including outdoor, social, radio and ads in gyms.
