To reach the Olympics is a feat in itself. But to compete in the games after fleeing from your own country and rebuilding your life is an accomplishment all the more astounding, as we see in a new ad from Visa debuting during tonight's Opening Ceremony.

The brand, which is the exclusive payment provider for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, tells the story of swimmer Yusra Mardini, a Syrian refugee who made her way to Berlin and now, the Rio Olympics. In the ad, we see how her talents in the water have not just propelled her to the glory of the big games, but also helped her steer her compatriots to safety, just a year ago.

Ms. Mardini is a member of Team Visa and the ten-person Refugee Olympic team, whose stories will also be told in an upcoming documentary from the United Nations High Commission on Refugees.
