The white lies parents tell kids to get them to do and eat things they don't want to add up and become increasingly elaborate in this French ad for Volkswagen. From "Stop making that face or it'll get stuck that way" to "They'll send Mommy to jail if you don't get good grades," most people can remember trusting such threats without question.

The automaker and agency DDB Paris relay the message as a warning (to those who were once that gullible) about salespeople who are as convincing as their parents were -- with motives that are much less noble. The ad encourages buyers to go through its used-car program Das WeltAuto instead. The name translates to "The World Car" and is also a play on VW's "Das Auto" motto.
