VW Attempts to Get Camper Van Fans Loving its Successor in New Campaign

Spot for the Transporter Has Plenty of Nods to its Iconic Predecessor

Volkswagen said goodbye to its much-loved Camper Vans (or Kombi) earlier this year, a series of nostalgic ads helping the model to bow out as they ceased production. Its successor, the Transporter, might not have such a memorable design (looking more like a suburban Mom's minivan than a hippie icon) but in this new international campaign by Germany's Grabarz & Partners, VW attempts to garner some love for the new model. With plenty of nods to its predecessor to emphasize the transition between the two, it depicts a bunch of people using -- and loving -- the van for different purposes, whether it be logging, construction or taking the kids on an adventure holiday, to the soundtrack of "Only You." The campaign will run in Germany,France, Belgium, Turkey, Russia and Australia.
