On Friday evening, just after news of Donald Trump's "Access Hollywood" hot mic comments broke, Megyn Kelly on her Fox News show "Kelly File" aired this footage of actor Robert De Niro delivering this scathing attack on the Republican candidate, calling him everything from "blatantly stupid," to a "mutt," to a "bullshit artist" to an "idiot" and "an embarrassment to this country."

He even goes so far as to say, "He talks about how he wants to punch people in the face, well, I'd like to punch him in the face."

Mr. De Niro goes on to encourage viewers to take action. "What I care about is the direction of this country. What I'm very, very worried about is that it might go in the right direction, with someone like Donald Trump. If you care about your future, vote for it."

Production company Anonymous Content and director Tom McCarthy ("Spotlight") had shot the footage as part of the "Vote Your Future," campaign, which enlisted nearly 100 celebrities in a multi-film initiative to encourage citizens to vote on election day. The campaign is non-partisan, and the participants had been asked not to name any candidates directly.

Mr. McCarthy had asked Mr. De Niro the same question he had of the other talents: "What do you care about?"

Mr. De Niro has not been shy of criticizing the candidate publicly, even comparing him to his famous, mentally unstable "Taxi Driver" character Travis Bickle, for which he earned an Oscar nomination.

According to a statement from Anonymous, "the producers felt that they could not include Robert De Niro's film as part of the campaign and still honor the non-partisan nature but still feel that this video needed to be shared."
