'Dusty Car Wash' Gives Autos a Mad Max Makeover

Hollywood Artists Recreated Movie's Look in Toronto Warner Brothers Stunt

Published on

Editor's Pick

To promote "Mad Max: Fury Road," Warner Bros. Pictures Canada set up a "dusty car wash" in downtown Toronto so people could get the movie franchise's trademark filthy, beaten-up look for their own cars. Agency Lowe Roche coordinated the stunt, which saw a team of Hollywood set dressers and professional artists recreate images from the movie on each vehicle, as well as giving it a blast of dust. Imagery included skulls and flames, along with movie quotes, and the title and release date -- effectively creating mobile billboards driving around the city. Although the over-the-top video showcasing the stunt is a bit much with the fast cuts and overly aggressive music, the idea is super cool.
