Editor's Pick

U.K. betting firm William Hill is working on bringing virtual reality to the world of horseracing, as it unveils technology that lets users experience a live horse race in a 3D virtual environment. Its "Get in the Race" project, developed with production company Unit9, was unveiled as a prototype app today at an event, Digital Shoreditch 2015, in London. It lets users experience a horserace using real data collected with GPS trackers placed on the horses.

Using a smartphone and Google Cardboard device, users get the jockey's eye view of the horse, as if they were in the saddle, and can look down on their ride to get data on its heart rate, stride length, distance remaining and race position.
