For this year's "Earth Hour" on March 19, WWF is asking social media users to promote their commitment to the planet by donating their Facebook feeds. People are encouraged to visit earthhour.org/climateaction to sign up and use an app, created by MediaMonks, that generates posts about climate change on their feed. Users can also add an Earth Hour filter to their profile pictures on Facebook and Twitter to show they care.
To promote it, WWF created a video, seen here, in which the narrator ages in reverse, from an old woman in 2090 standing on a distant planet to a little girl today, while listing the milestones that have helped save the planet; the world going carbon-neutral, the end of coal mines, and so on. The film shows ice floes re-freezing and forests snapping back into place -- a vision of what could happen if people joined the campaign to stop climate change in 2016. Jeremy Groman of Firecracker Films directed the video, for creative agency Iris Singapore.
