See the Wizard of Oz Through a Blind Seven-Year-Old's Eyes in This Oscars Spot

Comcast and Xfinity Tap Goodby to Explore Entertainment a Little Differently

Published on Feb 19, 2015

Editor's Pick

A lovely little girl describes the Wizard of Oz characters -- each one a little different from the popular movie version so many have seen starring a rosy-cheeked Judy Garland as Dorothy. Emily, the seven- year-old narrator, was born blind and all of her visions come from a place of pure imagination.

The 60-second spot titled "Emily's Oz" comes out of agency Goodby Silverstein & Partners New York and promotes Comcast-owned Xfinity's first talking guide, one of its services for the visually-impaired and a product of its Accessibility Lab. The ad will premiere during this Sunday's Oscars telecast -- one of the biggest entertainment events of the year -- and may prompt people to wonder how those with disabilities experience film and television.

Viewers will be directed to EmilysOz.com, where a short documentary about Emily and her version of vision lives.
